Frequently asked questions
Is Puck a job board?
No. Puck is recruiting software built for talent acquisition teams to find, screen, and engage candidates. However, we develop and host career and job pages for our clients to help them attract the right people.
Does Puck replace our ATS?
If you already have an ATS such as Greenhouse, Lever, or Ashby in place, Puck integrates with your existing applicant tracking system. If you don't have an ATS yet, Puck's Lightweight ATS can serve as your system of record instead.
Does Puck handle offer extension or background checks?
No. Puck covers the front half of hiring → attracting candidates, screening them, and tracking them through interviews. Offers, background checks, and onboarding happen elsewhere: in your HRIS, your background check provider, or whichever system you use as your system of record. That's true whether you're running Puck alongside Greenhouse, Lever, or Ashby, or using Puck's own lightweight ATS.
Do I have to use all of Puck's products, or can I start with just one?
You can start with a single module, like our AI Recruiter or Lightweight ATS, and add others as your needs grow. Nothing about Puck requires adopting the full suite from day one.
Does Puck use AI to screen candidates?
Yes. Puck’s AI Recruiter conducts audio-first candidate screening by phone, and our candidate matching feature uses AI to rank inbound applicants by fit, so recruiters can focus on top prospects first.
What size companies does Puck work best for?
Puck primarily serves recruiting teams at midmarket companies in industries like retail, healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing. Smaller teams and agencies without an existing ATS can start with Lightweight ATS and grow into the rest of the platform as their hiring needs scale.
